Conversation with my mind.

The kids are off at their summer program, Bert’s at school, and Aloysius is at work. I’m alone! Hooooooorrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy!!! I’m 15 minutes into my day off now. And I’ve had this conversation with my brain:

Me: Day off! I will now go sleep for a good 4 hours, and then probably eat cookies until it’s time to pick up the kids. It sounds perfect.
Brain: You can’t do that.
Me: And why not?
Brain: You have things you should be doing.
Me: Says who?
Brain: You do. You have goals. Therefore, you have things you should be doing.
Me: That’s not fair.
Brain: Those goals aren’t going to accomplish themselves. No one is going to do them for you. You hold yourself to a standard, one that says you are a person who meets her goals.
Me: But what’s one more day? I’m tired.
Brain: Don’t you want to get a job? Write your steampunk book? Wear a skimpy outfit at Pennsic?
Me: Yes. So? What does that have to do with today and me not sleeping right now?
Brain: It means you have to fill out applications, write, and exercise instead of sleeping today. How often do you get a chance like this?
Me: Stupid brain.
Brain: Stupid human.

So, I guess I’ll be working on some projects today…

Mmm. Skimpy outfits and steampunk. I guess it’s good to be goal oriented. I am more sloth and laziness oriented, but then again, I don’t look good in skimpy outfits. Aaaaaaand now I am thinking about Pennsic again.

I’m not sure I could wear a skimpy steampunk outfit to Pennsic. We’ll have to save that for Halloween or something. And now I’m thinking about Pennsic again too. I have the pieces cut out for a shirt I’m sewing!

I like to make grandiose plans about what to do in my spare time, and then totally blow them off by playing video games or sleeping. It’s a great feeling.

Stupid Brain. I hate when it does that to me, too.

My brain tries that shit with me too. The older I get, the easier it is to quash those thoughts with a nap.

I did relax a little this morning, but my brain won over all. I did a lengthy application with a temp agency today, wrote over 1000 words in my steampunk short story, that I’m now referring to as “steamypunk” due to content, and I did my exercise video.
